For all children under 16 years old, the NHS pay for the eye examination and contribute towards the cost of any spectacles and even contact lenses.

Even if the young person is over 16 but under 19 years of age but  in full time education.

There are different sized pictures of well known items such as a duck, an aero plane and others, which an infant should recognize.

For children at Maloney Opticians  Retinal photography  is done at no charge as an extra part of the eye examination.
